What is the story behind the brand name AZURE?
Hi my name is Sana and I’m the Creative Director for AZURE. AZURE is a luxury jewelry brand. AZURE, as the name goes, quite literally means a deep blue color. It stems from the Persian term for Lapis Lazuli. As a stone and as a color its quite mythical, its majestic, and it embodies the nature of the design aesthetic that we’re going for at AZURE.
How did you start your jewellery brand- AZURE by SZK?
I worked in the development sector for several years. I have always enjoyed the arts and wanted to be an art student or rather pursue it at college level. My maternal grandmother used to make jewelry and I used to help her. I wanted to start a line with her whilst I was working in the development sector. However, she sadly passed away and then I was expecting and well, life just got in the way.
I then moved to London for a few months and started doing my research. Slowly over the last two years, I started sketching, developing my collections, sitting at workshops, I also went to do a jewellery making course. We finally launched in May 2019, three months ago, and here we are- 2 years later!
